THE CORRECT TEE SHOT ALIGNMENT

Many golfers make the same mistake by putting the club across their upper bodies pointing directly at the target. (Pic 2) The result is that they are aiming right of the target. (Pic 3)

The result is often a direct hit straight into the bushes or trees. A real shame as the shot was good but penalisied because of aiming incorrectly. When i have new clients who have this tendency i ask them if they themselves want to fly to the target or should the ball do that!!

A further question i ask is if they have seen a top player in television using this routine. The answer always being that no, they have not. Here is once again a good chance to learn from the Pro´s.

First stand behind the ball (Pic 4) and pick a point roughly a half a metre in front of the ball in the desired flight direction. As you can see i have chosen an old divot mark. The rest of the aiming preperation should be visualising a railway track. For a right handed player the ball should fly out on the right rail line and therefore the player should visualise standing parallel to the left rail. (Pic 5)

In conclusion the player should not stand to where they want to hit the ball but slightly left of if it, as demonstrated, in order to swing correctly to the target.
